Custom ATEX Battery Pack Design Service
The battery solutions we provide must fit seamlessly into the products and applications you are creating. High performance and operation capabilities, not only during use but during periods of re-charging are essential to success.
What are ATEX Batteries?
The ATEX Directive 94/9/EC was design to ensure that people who work in flammable and potentially explosive conditions take extra safety precautions. The battery powered equipment they use in such environments, such as lamps, gas detectors, and air-monitoring devices, is held to the highest safety standards.
The ATEX safety directive identifies electronic components that have built-in safety features designed to safeguard users who work under hazardous conditions and places the onus on equipment manufacturers for designing and testing their equipment to ensure that it incorporates all of the required safety features.
ATEX Battery Design Options
There are several different technical design options are available to comply with the ATEX directive, including explosion-proof enclosures, specific protection devices and encapsulation. This includes the pre-certification standard of "Intrinsically Safe" (IS) components such as batteries that do not produce sparks and should not release electrical or thermal energy that could caused any sort of reaction, even when the component is abused (for example short circuited).
Rechargeable Li-ion, NiCd, and lithium-thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2) are examples of IS batteries. The design of the ATEX Battery or IS Battery Pack is very important and many factors must be considered in addition to environmental conditions, such as life cycle, performance and weight.
Battery Manufacture and Assembly Service
Having UK based assembly facility (Chard, Somerset, UK) ensures easy access and a responsive, easy to communicate way of delivering a cost-effective service. In situations where you may already have a battery design or have an existing supplier and wish to seek an alternative, we can offer a service that ensures you get exactly what you want when you need it, whilst remaining in control. Application performance significantly depends on how well the battery delivers the power and recharge capabilities required.
Our relationships with the major battery manufacturers together with our clients make our batteries capable and reliable by merging the design process with quality management. This means critical battery development stages are never compromised as this is often a false economy. Once the test and evaluation process is complete, full production can start.
